Sponsored by the Indiana Army National Guard, Howe celebrated a Hometown Jersey Night for the Boys Varsity home basketball game against South Bend Community Baptist on February 15, 2019. At this game, the Indiana National Guard provided HMA players with special uniforms and unveiled a court-sized American flag, carried and held by the Corps of Cadets, while Mr. Michael Reed, Howe’s Director of Technology and Digital Marketing, sang the National Anthem. It was a competitive game, and Cadets came out with a victory of 49-38.
During halftime, all community members who have served or currently serve in the military were invited to the court to be recognized and honored for their sacrifice and commitment to our country. The guests were publicly honored in this small ceremony whereby COL Tate (Academy President) and CSM Wilson (Academy Sergeant Major) announced their name, rank, branch, and years of service, and presented them with a commemorative Howe Military Academy pin while the Armed Forces Medley hailed them.
We are grateful to all those that made this night so special, particularly Master Sergeant Travis Holcomb and Sergeant First Class David Grimm of the Indiana Army National Guard for their efforts and partnership with HMA.
